You Will:
Install and test upgrades and patches for LINUX and Progress databases.
Proactive 24/7 monitoring and support Production and Support Database and LINUX situations.
Check systems and database logs. (OS, Appserver, replication, Webspeed)
Check database backups, batch logs, “After Image†database files
Check LINUX files systems (Physical and Virtual) – Development, QA, Production, Support, and DR.
Ensure that Production databases are replicating to Disaster Recovery databases.
Database, user account, and server maintenance.
Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
Redo Production database replication as failures occur.
Create and maintain shell scripts for databases and systems task automation.
Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements for all LINUX servers.
Experience:
A minimum of 7-10 years as a professional Systems Administrator/Engineer is required.
Including:
Dell and IBM P-series servers and blade/chassis,
Progress database administration
Linux (Red hat enterprise preferred)
Database performance tuning and capacity planning
Supporting 500+ Business users and Developer, Support and QA teams.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applied schema changes. (new tables and fields)
Deploy internally developed applications and configurations into Production, Support and Disaster Recovery environments.
Check Support, QA, Development and Internal Audit database refreshes.
Monthly schema load and QA support for new code releases.
New database creation requests.
Design, implement, transition and administer the migration of COSMOS and VM Progress-based systems from AIX to LINUX.
Refresh Support, Development and QA databases as needed.
Support QA and Development groups with any database or script issues.
Check code backups.
Assist in support of PRO2SQL environment.
Manage Progress, LINUX Licensing and maintenance.
