Help NSU's Computer Museum

At GSCIS we have established a computer museum and need your help to obtain some key pieces. Our goal is to have machines from various eras and computing power. Recently I was made aware of an unbelievable opportunity to get a Cray T94 Supercomputer for $10,000. This machine when new in 1995 was millions of dollars.

Seymour Cray was an electrical engineer and supercomputer architect who designed the fastest computers in the world for decades. He has been credited with creating the supercomputer industry.

The Cray T90 series (code-named Triton during development) was the last of a line of vector-processing supercomputers manufactured by Cray Research. The first machines were shipped in 1995, and featured a 2.2 ns (450 MHz) clock cycle and two-wide vector pipes, for a peak
speed of 1.8 gigaflops per processor.

The machine I am looking to obtain came from NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid
Dynamics Laboratory. http://www.publicaffairs.noaa.gov/pr95/may95/cray.html

Time is limited to obtain this piece of computing history for South
Florida. Please consider helping us fund the $10,000 needed, any
amount helps!

This past Saturday saw the grand opening of The Lab Miami. The LAB Miami is a place for collaboration, creativity, and change far away from cubicles, office hours and bosses. It’s the new way to work and the best way to make things happen.

Aside from co-working, The LAB will also offer gallery space, event space and classroom space for educational programming. This is a place for innovation. A place to learn, act and build. Be a part of it, be a LAB rat.
