An Hour of Code Demystifies Computer Programing – Dec 9-15

An Hour of Code Demystifies Computer Programing – Dec 9-15

Computer Science Education Week is offering FREE on-line video tutorials to millions of students through its ‘1 Hour of Code’ initiative.

What’s an Hour of Code?

It’s a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code” and show that anyone can learn the basics to be a maker, a creator, an innovator.

We’ll provide a variety of self-guided tutorials that anybody can complete, with just a web-browser, tablet, or smartphone. We’ll even have unplugged tutorials for classrooms without computers. No experience is needed.

Watch this “how to” video for more information.

Why Computer Science?

Computer Science provides a foundation for virtually any career — everybody can benefit from learning the basics.

Other CSEdWeek events

Computer Science Education Week is observed each year, in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

The Hour of Code is just one of many different events planned for CSEdWeek. If you are a CS teacher, see our Participation Kit for CS Teachers, and if you plan a special event tell us about it so we can celebrate your hard work.

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

It’s just not possible to turn on the TV or read Google News without falling over terrifying stories of new Cyber Crimes. If like most of us in the IT industry, you are concerned about Cyber Security, then you should take a look at the series of 4 events taking place at NSU’s GSCIS during October.

ITPalooza is just 10 short weeks away. We have a lot of activity going on including ‘Musician Call’, ‘Call for Volunteers’ and the October 15 Organizing Committee on-site walk-through. If you would like to get involved with South florida’s premier holiday party / charity event, please email Alex@SherlockTech.com
