This past Saturday saw the grand opening of The Lab Miami. The LAB Miami is a place for collaboration, creativity, and change far away from cubicles, office hours and bosses. It’s the new way to work and the best way to make things happen.
Aside from co-working, The LAB will also offer gallery space, event space and classroom space for educational programming. This is a place for innovation. A place to learn, act and build. Be a part of it, be a LAB rat.

South Florida’s tech community has had a busy week – Miami Tech Week, Refresh Miami, and Startup Blastoff at SuperConf are just some of the highlights in last week’s calendar. Jose Pimienta won the $22,000 Startup Blastoff prize with his company pitch for Vinalfy.

Here’s a sweet promotion. Students who publish apps can get up to $100 each for up to five apps per submission period. Since students get into the Windows Store and get free dev tools via DreamSpark, this should be an easy win. Couple it with someone using a tool like GameMaker or some Win8 Design Templates , and the opportunities for a couple of fast, high quality apps are fantastic. Pass along to your favorite coder-student who wants some cash and a shot at more prizes. More..

On hand to deliver Microsoft’s product stack for Big Data management and manipulation was Nizar Lavji of Vista Technologies who also presented winner Larry McKinney with an MS Surface.
