The Release Engineer will be the bridge between development and production acting in a proactive manner reducing inefficiencies and waste.
This is a Dev Ops position that will work alongside the app dev teams to organize and schedule production release, patches and system maintenance.
This person will work closely with the sys admin team establishing baseline image requirements accounting tuning, optimization, security, high availability and resource planning.
• Ability to design and support robust build, deployment and configuration management systems for multi-tier Java J2EE applications
• Expert Experience administering application servers, servlet containers, and web servers (WebLogic, Apache Tomcat, Jetty, Nginx, Mongrel, Apache HTTP server
• Use of agile and other development processes and methodologies
• Maintain availability of hardware, virtualized and cloud infrastructure from internal and external providers
• Highly skilled in the usage of data center automation and configuration management tools such as ansible, vagrant, Docker, etc…
• Troubleshoot SSL issues or generating/installing certs, assisting with basic configuration needs, SSL cert management and SSL offloading and Load balancing
• Troubleshooting access/communication between servers, log analysis.
• Deploy and manage monitoring tools such as Nagios, Enterprise Manager, Alert Site, etc…) to assess how our Services are performing.
o Logging and monitoring of critical log events
• Must have deep understanding around what's happening on the network and OS level.
o Managing OS distributions and understanding differences, developing upgrade roadmaps, and communicating out to the teams.
o VMWare management and monitoring.
• Storage and space management and monitoring.
• OS-level configuration best practices (e.g., files, threads, permissions/access control, etc.)
• Instance-level configuration best practices (e.g., memory, CPU, etc.)
• Ability to prioritize and manage urgencies
• Ability to give accurate work estimates
